Woke up with a start thinking it was 7.58 - realised a bit later that my bed side clock had not been put back! Got mike off to work with a lot of noise from suki. Trying to be quiet because Lorraine had done outreach shift till 2 am. Some hope! Sorted out all my emails - reducing them from 268 to 14 and dealing with all those which needed action. Had hygienist appointment at 10. Used the bike for the first time in ages to get there. Went to Tesco with Lorraine and had fun doing some shopping including three packs of sweets for trick or treaters.was late taking suki out in the afternoon. I walked her up to parish office of St M&AA to post booking forms for concert. The streets were teeming with trick or treaters and many of the houses were decorated with spiders webs, bats hanging in the porch and lots of them had pumpkins with candles inside.  Really quite festive. Went back through southfields park. Had huge number of trick or treaters come to the door - nearly ran out of sweets! Suki did a good job of scaring them before I opened the door!! Calm finally settled but too late for me to settle to cross stitch sp played spider and practiced on Abel before having hot drink and going to bed. Had Lorraine's home made veg lasagne for supper with chips done the way Jayne showed me. Both were lovely. Filled in my app and was way over the calories for the day until I added in the cycling and dog walking which brought it back to a more even scale!

(click here for short, 2-page version pdf!) Doesn’t time fly! It seems no time at all since I was composing last year’s letter. What a gorgeous summer we had - the heatwave seemed to go on for ever and I spent many a happy hour sitting in the garden - as did Suki! As expected, Mary (Mike’s mum) passed away on 13th December last year - nearly 5 weeks after she first took to her bed and stopped eating.  Everyone at Tracey House was so good with her, caring for her and keeping her comfortable. They also took care of everything at the end which was very helpful. We were fortunate to be able to have the funeral before Christmas so it wasn’t hanging over until the new year. Mary had written down her wishes for hymns and readings and even a potted history for the eulogy! It was very easy to organise, even from a distance. Saturday 1 February

Mike went off ringing QPs and I went to Denham to do 7-mile Colne Valley circular walk I had stumbled across when researching New Year's Day canal walk.  Walking by 9.10.  Took me four and a half hours because went slightly wrong in the woods and then decided to research possible short cut for future, and also because unable to get under railway bridge at Ickenham due to floods so had to do long detour.  Lovely morning - clear and sunny and not too cold although the wind was somewhat chill.  Underfoot was extremely muddy and often deep in water - luckily boots were up to it.  Had blisters under both feet by the end.  Also found I had burrs sticking to my ear muffs - but only after I had been talking to people whilst completely unaware of this. Got home and changed bedding and did washing.  Then had lovely hot shower and got into comfies for the evening.  Did cross stitch and watched England being beaten by France at Rugby in the last few minutes.  Had pate from Son Ferrer market fo

Roving Ringers Reunion Weekend 21-22 Feb

Lee and Emma picked up Suki on Friday afternoon - which left us clear on Saturday to just get up and go.  We were going to listen to the Everest book on the way up to Huntingdon - but we couldn't get the phone audio to work through the bluetooth on the car, even though the phone was shown as paired.  So we listened to an interesting programme on the Bach Magnificat instead.  We set off a bit late but got to the first tower at Godmanchester about 10.20 am and Hal immediately came down and carried Mike up.  I tried to ring there but they were too heavy for me and the ropes were new and springy so I didn't carry on.  The next tower was St Ives - which was a ground floor ring with an awful lot of rope, so I didn't ring there but stayed around in the body of the church chatting.  I walked back to the town before the session finished and had a happy time browsing round the shops and farmers marker.  I got myself some nail varnish - another first shock horror!!  At the market I bo
