New bed - daywear

Raised for storage
Tuesday 26 February.  New bed arrived today!  Absolutely wonderful.  Treated myself to new flanellete duvet set and specially sized fitted sheet.  Had a great night's sleep - really comfortable.  Very heavy - made of leather with fixed headboard.  Also bought faux leather side cabinet - such luxury to be able to put cup down.  Whole of base is available for storage.

Let it Be at the Savoy Theatre
Saturday 2 March.  Went for Walk 7 with MH from Stokenchurch.  In the evening went to Let it Be at Savoy theatre with Mike, Carolyn and Lorraine.  Excellent - gig really by tribute band but they were very good.  Drank champagne at £70 a bottle afterwards in the bar.


Sunday 3 March.  Missed 8 am and went to Evensong instead.  Church sitting in the afternoon so fitted well.

Monday 4 March.  Sunny in London - crocuses in the park looking lovely as still untrodden by kids.  Drove to Devon - only took 3 hours.  After quick bacon sarnie went for walk on Dartmoor.  Saddle Tor > tramway> high ridge>tramway>quarry>Hay Tor>back.  Cold windy and cloudy!  Popped in to see Mary on the way back.  Bellringing in the evening. Quick pint and a half with Barry and Bob in The Bell Inn.

(click here for short, 2-page version pdf!) Doesn’t time fly! It seems no time at all since I was composing last year’s letter. What a gorgeous summer we had - the heatwave seemed to go on for ever and I spent many a happy hour sitting in the garden - as did Suki! As expected, Mary (Mike’s mum) passed away on 13th December last year - nearly 5 weeks after she first took to her bed and stopped eating.  Everyone at Tracey House was so good with her, caring for her and keeping her comfortable. They also took care of everything at the end which was very helpful. We were fortunate to be able to have the funeral before Christmas so it wasn’t hanging over until the new year. Mary had written down her wishes for hymns and readings and even a potted history for the eulogy! It was very easy to organise, even from a distance. She was well known at the church and there was a good attendance - I was particularly glad that her 90-year old friend, who had been her bridesmaid, was ab

Saturday 1 February

Mike went off ringing QPs and I went to Denham to do 7-mile Colne Valley circular walk I had stumbled across when researching New Year's Day canal walk.  Walking by 9.10.  Took me four and a half hours because went slightly wrong in the woods and then decided to research possible short cut for future, and also because unable to get under railway bridge at Ickenham due to floods so had to do long detour.  Lovely morning - clear and sunny and not too cold although the wind was somewhat chill.  Underfoot was extremely muddy and often deep in water - luckily boots were up to it.  Had blisters under both feet by the end.  Also found I had burrs sticking to my ear muffs - but only after I had been talking to people whilst completely unaware of this. Got home and changed bedding and did washing.  Then had lovely hot shower and got into comfies for the evening.  Did cross stitch and watched England being beaten by France at Rugby in the last few minutes.  Had pate from Son Ferrer market fo

Roving Ringers Reunion Weekend 21-22 Feb

Lee and Emma picked up Suki on Friday afternoon - which left us clear on Saturday to just get up and go.  We were going to listen to the Everest book on the way up to Huntingdon - but we couldn't get the phone audio to work through the bluetooth on the car, even though the phone was shown as paired.  So we listened to an interesting programme on the Bach Magnificat instead.  We set off a bit late but got to the first tower at Godmanchester about 10.20 am and Hal immediately came down and carried Mike up.  I tried to ring there but they were too heavy for me and the ropes were new and springy so I didn't carry on.  The next tower was St Ives - which was a ground floor ring with an awful lot of rope, so I didn't ring there but stayed around in the body of the church chatting.  I walked back to the town before the session finished and had a happy time browsing round the shops and farmers marker.  I got myself some nail varnish - another first shock horror!!  At the market I bo
